Rebel Dharma is an approach to Buddhist practice launched in the UK and inspired by Dharma Punx and Against the Stream Buddhist Meditation Society. It stands for an international crew of individuals willing to look within their own hearts and minds for a path through the fear and confusion that comes with being human. Wisdom, compassion, kindness, and generosity - aka freedom- is the alternative and we all have the ability to attain it. Many people are drawn to Buddhist ideas and practice but don't feel that much of traditional way of doing things relates to them. Rebel Dharma/Against the Stream looks to make Buddhist ideas relevant to help with the problems we all face. Buddha was a revolutionary. His practice was subversive; his message, seditious. His enlightened point of view went against the norms of his day - in his words, "against the stream".
